With just one month to go until Danube Day 2026, preparations are well underway across the Danube River Basin. On 29 June, countries, communities, schools, institutions and organizations throughout the region will come together to celebrate the Danube and the shared responsibility to protect it.

On 29 June 2026, countries across the Danube River Basin will once again come together to celebrate Danube Day, an annual tradition launched by the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) in 2004.

Vienna, 21 December 2021. Prioritising water management issues for the Danube River Basin until 2027, the ICPDR has adopted the Danube River Basin Management Plan (DRBMP) Update 2021 together with the Danube Flood Risk Management Plan (DFRMP) Update 2021.

The ICPDR has published a Guidance Document on Sustainable Agriculture, along with a Policy Paper.

Improving the safety of Tailings Management Facilities (TMFs) throughout the Danube River Basin is a key issue for the ICPDR, and we've now published a paper of policy recommendations.

The ICPDR has developed a recommendation paper on wastewater management, communicating the challenges, needs and potential solutions to wastewater management in the Danube River Basin.

Vienna, 30th June 2021 - Around 130 experts, stakeholders and members of the public were able to #HaveTheirSay about the 2021 updates of the Danube River Basin and Flood Risk Management Plans in the workshop "Our Opinion – Our Danube" which has just taken place.
The workshop is a key event for the update by the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) to its management plans and gives Danubian citizens a unique opportunity to contribute to the six-year plans.
