Ready to become the next Danube Art Master? Join and win in 2026!
The Danube Art Master 2026 competition has officially launched, inviting young people across the Danube River Basin to explore and celebrate the Danube River and its tributaries through art and creativity.
Under this year’s theme, “United by Danube!" contestants are encouraged to discover rivers, lakes, and wetlands; highlight their unique features; and reflect on their importance for both people and nature.
Open to children and young people aged 6 to 18, the competition calls for photos, artworks, and videos inspired by personal experiences with water. From small streams to the mighty Danube, combining art with environmental awareness, Danube Art Master empowers young people to express their connection to nature and raise their voices for the protection of our waters.
Participants can join individually, with their school class, or as a team by submitting a creative project in one of three categories:
- nature art created from materials found along riverbanks,
- artistic photography capturing special moments in or around water, or
- short videos sharing a personal message about preserving clean and healthy rivers.
All submissions first compete at the national level, where the best entries are awarded prizes and selected to advance to the international competition. Entries will be evaluated based on creativity, originality, and the strength of their environmental message.
The submission deadline for artworks on national level is 10th October 2026.
Organized by national partners across Danube countries and coordinated internationally by the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) and the Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE), the Danube Art Master competition forms part of wider efforts to promote sustainable water management and public participation throughout the region.
Young artists, teachers, and families are invited to take part and contribute to a shared vision of healthy, vibrant rivers.
Get united with the Danube and its tributaries! We look forward to your submission!
