2013: UN International Year on Water Cooperation launched
Paris, 11 Feb 2013. In December 2010, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2013 as the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation. A UNESCO-organised conference now marked the official launch of this year of celebration.
Danube Day 2012
Danube Day was a superb celebration of everything achieved in the 18 years
since the signing of the Danube River Protection Convention. Whether you
were one of the hundreds of thousands who participated; one of millions who
heard about it; or work for one of the 900 organisations involved, you helped
spread Danube solidarity through more than 350 individual events. Bridging
national and institutional boundaries, the 14-country festival demonstrates

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (UNECE Water Convention), adopted in Helsinki, Finland on 17 March 1992, celebrates its twentieth anniversary today. It is the only international framework agreement in force on transboundary freshwater.
Commissioner Hahn visits Danube Region

One year after the launch of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and upon the occasion of Danube Day, EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn, is making a tour of the region to meet those who are putting the plan into action. He will discuss how to accelerate implementation of the EUSDR, which can be an important instrument in creating jobs and growth.
ICPDR.org: Website Relaunch for Danube Day
Danube Basin, 29 July 2012. The official website of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River, www.icpdr.org, was re-launched just in time for the annual celebration of Danube Day on 29 June 2012. Over years, the old website had grown in content and became increasingly difficult to browse. The new design should not only allow the contents to become more accessible through an intuitive navigation, it also complies with state-of-the-art usability rules.

International co-operation for healthy rivers in Europe
