    Transboundary Cooperation for Healthy Rivers: ICPDR Welcomes New Declaration as Model for Danube Basin Collaboration

    The ICPDR applauds the recent signing of the"goMURra" Declaration by Austrian Water Minister Norbert Totschnig and Slovenian Minister for Natural Resources Jože Novak. The declaration, signed on 11 November 2025 at the UNESCO 5-Country Biosphere Reserve, marks a significant step forward in transboundary water management and ecological restoration in the Danube River Basin.

    Tethys Project Launched to Manage Hazardous Substances Pollution in the Danube River Basin

    Building on the successes of the Danube Hazard m3c project, the Tethys project was launched in January 2024. Funded by the Danube Regional Programme, Tethys will bring together 13 project partners and 10 associated strategic partners to address hazardous substances pollution in the Danube River Basin.

In order to protect water as a valuable ressource, investments are needed to be implemented by Danube countries. The implementation of measures is beneficial for all sectors including water-related ecosystems.

    ICPDR to Host Kick-off Event for Tethys Project

    Building on the successes of the Danube Hazard m3c project, the launch of the Tethys project is set to take place on April 11-12, 2024, in Vienna.     ICPDR convenes 20th annual ordinary meeting

    On Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 December 2017, the ICPDR held its 20th Ordinary Meeting in Vienna. Beside the heads of delegation and representatives of 13 of the contracting parties to the ICPDR, around 85 participants from all Danube countries, observers and invited guests attended this important event.

    On 6 and 7 December 2016 the ICPDR held its 19th Ordinary Meeting in Vienna.
    Beside the heads of delegation and representatives of the 15 contracting parties to the ICPDR, about 60 participants from all Danube countries, observers and invited guests attended this important event.
