The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (UNECE Water Convention), adopted in Helsinki, Finland on 17 March 1992, celebrates its twentieth anniversary today. It is the only international framework agreement in force on transboundary freshwater.

Danube Basin, 27 June 2012. One year after the launch of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and upon the occasion of Danube Day, EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn, is making a tour of the region to meet those who are putting the plan into action.
