The conference will provide opportunities to exchange the latest ideas, to present and discuss recent results on the physical-chemical and biochemical aspects of processes, which take part in the ecosystem – soil, air and water, and promising approaches of sustainable development including engineering and modeling, as well as social and educational implications. The aim of the conference is to encourage and facilitate the interdisciplinary communication among scientists, engineers, economists, teachers and professionals working on environmental issues and sustainable development.
Ecological Chemistry started to develop in Moldova in 1985 when the First International Ecological Chemistry School was conducted. For almost 25 years this field is intensively expanding, being one among several priorities for sustainable development of the National Economy.
The Ecological Chemistry 2012 is part of a series of successful conferences organised in 1995, 2002, 2005 and 2008 being supported by UNESCO, CRDF/MRDA, ONRG, as well as some local R&D organizations, among them the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the Department of Ecological and Industrial Chemistry and the Scientific Center for Ecological and Applied Chemistry of Moldova State University, and the Moldovan Research and Development Association.
The conference will serve as the main arena for discussion, experience and ideas exchange of recent achievements in the field related to investigation of mechanisms and chemical processes taking place in natural waters, atmosphere and soils under the influence of anthropogenic pollutants, the pollutants impact on the human health and habitat, as well as methods of environment pollution prevention and mitigation.
