Sava Basin, 1 June 2013. The International Sava Day is celebrated today in the Sava sub-basin, opening June as the "month of rivers". Events will be organised in all countries of the Sava Basin and will range from cycling tours to the Sava Youth Parliament and other educational events.

Danube Basin, 22 May 2013. With approximately 5000 native animal and 2000 plant species, the Danube River Basin is an important element in preserving biodiversity in Europe. To improve this further, educational activities are key. The Danubeparks network is now launching a new initiative in this field.

One year after the launch of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and upon the occasion of Danube Day, EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn, is making a tour of the region to meet those who are putting the plan into action. The official website of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River, www.icpdr.org, was re-launched just in time for the annual celebration of Danube Day on 29 June 2012. Over years, the old website had grown in content and became increasingly difficult to browse. The new design should not only allow the contents to become more accessible through an intuitive navigation, it also complies with state-of-the-art usability rules.
