VIENNA, 26 January 2021 (International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River) – As Montenegro is taking over the annual Presidency of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) in 2021, incoming President Momčilo Blagojević described the bold aims for his forthcoming term at the online event: finalizing the Danube River Basin and Flood Risk Management Plan Updates, emphasizing the public consultation process backing up both plans, plus focusing on strengthening Montenegro’s involvement in ICPDR expert and task groups.

Following the ICPDR's Ordinary Meeting on 15th & 16th December 2020, the updates to the Danube River Basin Management Plan (DRBMP) and Danube Flood Risk Management Plan (DFRMP) scheduled for 2021 are continuing.

On Thursday, 8 February 2018 in Munich (Germany), The Pure Water for Generations-film project of Pascal Rösler, a SUP-Paddler ICPDR friend and water advocate, was met with a resounding positive response from the audience at the premiere. Among the attendees were, Ulrike Scharf, Minister of the Environment and ICPDR Executive Secretary Ivan Zavadksy.

With its Sturgeon Strategy, adopted in December at the ICPDR Ordinary Meeting (now available for download), the ICPDR is contributing to the effort ensuring the survival and recovery of sturgeons in the Danube River Basin. A first follow-up step is the organization of a Sturgeon Conference under the upcoming Austrian EU Presidency next July in Vienna. The event is organized jointly by the ICPDR and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism (BMNT).

Vienna, 2 February 2018 - The 2nd of February is the World Wetlands Day. The ICDPR takes this occasion to highlight the vital significance of wetlands in the Danube River Basin.
