Students across the Danube Basin help screen for 447 pesticides in JDS5
130 high school students from ten countries have contributed to the fifth Joint Danube Survey (JDS5), the world's largest surface water monitoring effort, collecting water samples along the Danube and its tributaries that were then screened for 447 pesticides in a European Commission laboratory. For the first time, citizen science forms an integral part of the Joint Danube Survey.

River Rhine wins first European Riverprize
Vienna, 12 September 2013. In cooperation with ICPDR and Coca-Cola Europe, the International RiverFoundation has awarded the inaugural IRF European Riverprize to the River Rhine. The award is endowed with 25,000 EUR and additional support of twinning activities.
