On 19-20th January 2021, the ICPDR co-hosted an online workshop on rural wastewater management with the World Bank and the Danube Water Program.

VIENNA, 17 September – At yesterday's State of the Union address, Ursula von der Leyen – President of the European Commission – outlined a vision for Europe to emerge stronger than ever from 2020's pandemic crisis. NextGenerationEU is a new kind of recovery plan; a once in a lifetime opportunity for change, with a focus on becoming green, digital and more resilient.

As Germany takes over the annual Presidency of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) today, incoming President Helge Wendenburg has set three main priorities for his term: promote adaptation to climate change in the Danube River Basin, take the next steps in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the Flood Directive (FD), and further strengthen the integrated approach of ICPDR and the basin-wide exchange of experiences.

Uzhgorod, 11 April 2011. The five Tisza River Basin countries Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine entered a new stage in joint water management to ensure good water quality. In the course of a Ministerial Meeting held in Uzhgorod (Ukraine), a management plan was signed that commits the five countries to further cooperation in their efforts to protect the valuable environment of the basin. What used to be a matter of individual countries is now an international endeavour.
