Due to the current Ukrainian presidency, the 9th Standing Working Group Meeting was held in Kyiv and chaired by the ICPDR president of 2011, Ambassador Mykola Melenevskyi. The meeting marks a turning point in the work of the ICPDR, as it discussed key-developments in the Danube region – most importantly, the EU Danube Strategy.
The ICPDR, which acts as an implementing partner for several of the strategy’s actions, has a lot of experience in taking environmental law of the EU beyond the union’s borders. The presidency of Ukraine demonstrates how well cooperation mechanisms within the ICPDR work between EU members and other signatory parties of the ICPDR.
Further updates on the Standing Working Group Meeting and its outcomes will be presented here soon.
