On this page you can download the Danube Flood Risk Management Plan (DFRMP) Update 2021 and all its annexes and maps. Additionally, a brochure comprises a digested and simplified version of the plan, highlighting the most important aims and visions for the future laid out in these important documents. The main document and brochure are available in both high and low resolution versions.

The DRBMP Update 2021 was jointly coordinated with the Danube Flood Risk Management Plan (DFRMP) Update 2021. The two plans are coordinated and synergised in keeping with the environmental objectives as stipulated by the WFD.

Freezing weather conditions in the winter months have been a fact of life on the Danube since time immemorial, but the months of January and February 2017 saw many countries in the Danube Basin and its tributaries facing an especially bleak situation.

Since the publication of the first Danube River Basin Management Plan (DRBMP) in 2009, the ICPDR updates the DRBMP every six years as requested by the EU Water Framework Directive. Vienna, 14 June 2011. The ICPDR published a new brochure that gives an overview on the Danube River Basin last week. The publication is not limited to environmental issues alone, but includes facts and figures on a range of topics. It is distributed through the ICPDR and its contracting parties and provided for download below.

The Danube River Basin Management Plan guides the way to achieving at least good status for all waters of the Danube River Basin. The plan below covers the period from 2009 until 2015.

This document presents the win-win situation which resulted between the ICPDR, GEF/UNDP, EU and the Danube countries and their diverse peoples after 15 years of developing “integrated river basin management” (IRBM) in the Danube Basin.
