VIENNA, 16th December 2020 – The environmental Art competition, “Danube Art Master” is delighted to have received a surprisingly large number of artworks submitted in 2020, despite taking place under truly exceptional circumstances.

Vienna, 29th June 2020 - Danube Day 2020 will be moving online this year, due to the uncertainty, necessary border-closures, and quarantine measures stemming from the global COVID-19 pandemic. Under normal circumstances, on 29th June we invite more than eighty million people in the14 Danube countries to celebrate Danube Day, and learn and experience the waters of the world’s most international river basin.

VIENNA, 8th October 2019 - In a vintage year for young creativity in the Danube River Basin, the judges of the Danube Art Master competition found it especially challenging to pick a winner. Therefore, in 2019 there are three equal winners in the overall artwork category – Austria, Croatia, and Serbia – plus one winner for the video category, the video entry from Croatia.

VIENNA, 29 June – Eighty-one million people in all 14 Danube countries are invited to ‘Get active for a safer Danube’ on 29 June as part of the celebrations for the 14th annual Danube Day.

On Tuesday 9 April 2019, the EU project We Pass – facilitating fish migration and conservation at the Iron Gates – was kicked-off in the Hotel Aquastar, Kladovo (Serbia).

Vienna, 16 February 2010. Ministers and high-level representatives responsible for water management from the Danube River Basin countries Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Montenegro, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and the European Commission endorsed the ‘Danube Declaration’ at a ministerial meeting hosted by the ICPDR.

Vienna, 10 March 2008 - The first international system for forecasting Danube floods and providing an early flood warning was launched today by the ICPDR and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission.
The new system will provide the national authorities of countries in the Danube River Basin with up to 10 days to prepare for large floods.

Danube Basin, 29 June 2007. The rich and varied history and traditions of the countries sharing the Danube River Basin will be at the heart of festivities marking the fourth annual International Danube Day (June 29).



Under the theme, ‘Celebrating Danube Cultures’, a large number of educational, entertainment and recreational activities will be held this week to commemorate the anniversary of the Danube River Protection Convention.
