Danube Art Master Competition 2022: International Winners announced
VIENNA, 14th December 2022 – After almost 3 years of online activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022 saw the return of many in person outreach activities including the Danube Art Master competition. The announcement of this year's international winners took place during the ICPDR’s 25th Ordinary Meeting in Vienna, where an award ceremony was held to crown the international Danube Art Master in each of the competing categories.

The ICPDR has published an informative summary report on accident prevention and control for dissemination to the interested public. On 20th May 2022, the ICPDR along with other UN-based organizations, including CTBTO, IAEA, IOM, UNIDO, UNODA and UNODC, participated in this year’s “Long Night of Research” (“Lange Nacht der Forschung”) Austria’s biggest science event for the public.

Ajka, 15 November 2011. The redsludge accident of October 4 has generated a world-wide interest in the area of Ajka in Western Hungary. Since then, media attention has ceased. This article aims to provide an English summary of the measures that were taken to manage the accident since October 20.

Accident at Ajka alumnia plant
Kolotar, 4 October 2010. The acute toxic risk deriving from the heavy metals in the red sludge is rather low, as their concentrations are rather low. However, the chronic toxicity threat is high.

Serbia wins International Danube Art master
Vienna, 24 September 2010. Two Serbian children have won the ‘International Danube Art Master 2010’ competition. The International Master is selected from the winners of the national ‘Danube Art Master’ competitions in 14 Danube Basin countries.
