The Platina workshop and conference on “Good practices in sustainable waterway planning” will be held in Brussels on 14 and 15 November – with two very distinguished keynote speakers. The Director General of DG Environment Mr Karl Friedrich Falkenberg and the Director General of DG Move Mr Matthias Ruete will both attend the workshop and conferences deliver keynote speeches at the start of the event.

The workshop and conference aim to facilitate the exchange on concrete cases of integration of environmental issues into waterway planning in Western and Eastern Europe. Participants should learn how to move from theory to practice. The workshop will discuss the application of the principles described in the “Manual to Good Practices in Waterway Planning” prepared through the PLATINA project.

It is targeted at people from the administration and planning offices who are developing and carrying out navigational infrastructure projects, as well as officials from Ministries of the Environment who are dealing with waterway development proposals. The event is organised by the ICPDR (International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River) and INE (Inland Navigation Europe) as part of the EU-funded PLATINA project.
